Mann-Whitney U Test

The Mann-Whitney U test ranks all observations together and compares the rank sums of the two groups. U₁ = R₁ − n₁(n₁+1)/2. For samples of about 8 or more the z approximation (with tie correction and continuity correction) gives a two-tailed p-value. The effect size r = |z| ÷ √N.
