Euler's formula: P_cr = π²·E·I ÷ (K·L)², where K is the effective-length factor (pinned–pinned 1.0, fixed–free 2.0, fixed–pinned 0.7, fixed–fixed 0.5). Valid for slender columns; the slenderness ratio K·L ÷ r should exceed about 100 for steel. Apply a safety factor for design.
