About this calculator

For a series circuit with resistance R and reactance X: |Z| = √(R² + X²), φ = arctan(X ÷ R) and power factor = cos φ. Use positive X for an inductor (current lags voltage) and negative X for a capacitor. A time shift Δt at frequency f corresponds to φ = 360° × f × Δt.
